Oh how do I love thee, let me ramble the ways...

What is it?

Anime is Japanese animation, a genre of entertainment far above and beyond that of American cartoons. Themes can range from medieval wars to contemporary soap operas to futuristic space colonization, touching on every gradation between. The target audience's age varies just as wildly, from children's shows to shows I probably wouldn't let my kids watch. Anime, the moving successor to Japan's rich tradition of manga (comics), truly became popular in the early 1960s, with Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, and these days enjoys a wide popularity, in America as well as its native Japan.

And the point is...

That anime kicks ass and that I love it to bits. (hah) Perhaps someday I'll have something worthwhile to say about it, but I've never figured out truly what I wanted to have on this page, so for now I'll stick to recommending some of my favorite anime. I've got rather eclectic tastes in anime (well, in everything, really), so expect a variety and check out the sides...

Note 5/17/01

This page is wayyyy out of date. I know they're not listed, but yes, I -have- seen Cowboy Bebop, the Rurouni Kenshin OAVs, Trigun, Furi Kuri, Lain, blah blah blah whatever else someone may suggest - I have been the officer for an anime club. I watch anime often. New anime. Yes, I like them. No, I'm not going to update this page for a while. I'm lazy. That is why TV series have never been added. Embrace the laziness and make it a part of you.
